If everything goes according to plan, by 2020 people will have a new, shorter way to get from Germany to Copenhagen. A state-owned firm in Denmark has plans to start construction in 2014 on what will become one of the world’s longest underwater tunnels. The 18 kilometer tunnel will have four traffic lanes for cars and two train lines. Travel time from Hamburg to Copenhagen should be cut by an hour.
